Name: Barth, Karl
Born: 1886
Died: 1968
Major Work: Kirchliche Dogmatik
Biography: A Swiss Protestant theologian, he was expelled from Germany in 1935 for his opposition to the Nazis. He writes of Judaism as an imaginary theological construct whose purpose is to serve as a foil to the message of the gospel. He probably did not mean to be hostile or anti-Semitic, but his works are largely a caricature and falsification of the Jewish reality.
