Biography: Josephus was a Jewish historian and chief representative of Jewish-Hellenistic literature. He was at one time the commander of Jewish troops in the Galilee, fighting against the Romans, but he went over to Vespasian's side, eventually moving to Rome where he was given citizenship. He was hated by the Jews and loved by the Romans.
